93rd UiTM Convocation (20th session). 26th June 2022.

FINALLY! It is my graduation day guys. After the MCO thingy, endemic phase, and 2 years of postponed. Finally finally finally. It is the day when I am officially verified as a UiTM alumni. Proud to say, now I am a Bachelor of Sports Science (Hons.) graduate. (Watch: Istiadat Konvokesyen UiTM ke-93 | Sidang 20 - 2:47:00)

Some people may seem this is just an "on-paper degree". But as my POV, this is one of my highest academic achievements (so far). There are a lot of up and down, felt like quitting, and crying all month long during my degree journey. But I made it guys! I made it..

This degree is not my own success, but I must say it is group work. The endless support from my family, and my fiancé.  Financially, physically, and mentally they are there for me. Especially during my Final Year Project where I got so so so down preparing my thesis, crying while handling the research, etc. etc. But finally, my thesis is successfully done and submitted in 2020.

I want to send my highest gratitude to all of my lecturers too for all the guidance and knowledge given. Without the lecturers, surely I won't receive my degree scroll today. Thank you thank you and thank you!

Not to forget, my colleagues as well. They have done their very best in this degree journey. Helping each other to achieve what we have today. Good job guys, we made it. We deserve this degree. Congratulations (group hug)!

BTW, For those who feel like furthering your study in Sports Science, feel free to do so. It is fun! But do not expect things to go easy. There are a lot of mountains u need to climb. Sports science is not only physically active but u need to be mentally well-prepared as well. (Also Read: Degree Life)

Do you know skincare has certain steps that you really need to follow or else your skincare product will not absorb thoroughly and become less effective? Sometimes it can be confusing but if you make it a habit, things will get easier time by time. So which skincare product you should apply first or what are the rules of skincare layering?  This entry will cover the most basic to the most advanced steps of your skincare.

The most basic step is always to start with a very light and watery product with a thick or oil-based product. This will help your skincare product to absorb better. For example, skincare products such as a moisturizer have a thicker texture compared to toners. So use your toner before applying your moisturizer.

Applying treatment skincare such as serum, essence, and ampoule can have a better penetration when applying to damp skin. In order that you need to be sure to have damp and hydrated skin before applying any treatment.

Follow these skincare steps for better understanding:

  1. Oil-based cleanser
  2. Water-based cleanser
  3. Hydrating toner
  4. Exfoliation toner
  5. Essence
  6. Serum
  7. Ampoule
  8. Spot treatment
  9. Moisturizer
  10. Facial oil
  11. Sunscreen
Feel free to skip any of the steps if there is no urge for you to use the product. The basic skincare product which you can't skip is the cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Further, please bear in mind, that exfoliation toner is not meant for daily use.

Another tip is always to let each layer of your skincare fully absorb before proceeding to the next steps and reapply your sunscreen every 2-3hours. Hope this entry helps. Thank you for reading.

Oily skin can be a bit annoying especially during hot weather when everything gets sweaty and shiny. You cannot change your skin type. However, the good news is sebum production can be controlled with proper technique and choices of skincare. This entry will show ingredients to look for and some of the skincare suggestions suitable for oily skin.

Ingredient to look for:

  • Salicylic acid- clear pores
  • Azelaic acid/ glycolic acid- balances sebum and exfoliates
  • Niacinamide- balances sebum and brightens skin
  • Vitamin A/Retinol- Reduce sebum
Cleanser: Cetaphil oily skin cleanser / cetaphil gentle cleanser
Cetaphil oily skin cleanser is clinically proven to reduce sebum in 2 weeks. However, I still love to use Cetaphil gentle skin cleansers as other skincare products I use already enough to reduce my sebum without overdrying. But if you find your face too oily you may use this Cetaphil oily cleanser.

Exfoliator: Paula's Choice BHA 2% liquid
This exfoliator contain salicylic acid. Really suited for oily skin as this product can attract all the sebum and clear clogged pores.

Toner: Pixi Glow Tonic
Pixi glow tonic contains 5% glycolic acid which is categorized as a mild exfoliator and suitable for everyday use. However please do not use it together with any acne treatment or exfoliator as it may cause overdrying.

Serum: Yuja Niacin Blemish Care Serum
Yuja niacin blemish care serum got a high percentage of niacinamide and other star ingredient such glutathione, arbutin, yuja extract which is really effective to brighten skin and fading any pigmentation.

Moisturizer: Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel
This moisturizer is really lightweight and suitable for oily skin types as this moisturizer is a gel type and very hydrating. (Also read: Honest Review Neutrogena Hydroboost Water Gel)

Sunscreen: Biore Aqua Rich / Biore UV Perfect Milk
Biore aqua rich is a chemical sunscreen and gel type which absorb very well and doesn't leave any greasy feeling or white cast. While biore UV perfect milk sunscreen is a hybrid sunscreen that contains physical and chemical sunscreens it has powdery matte finishing and minimal white cast.

Treatment: Adapalene / Tretinon (only with dr prescription)
Oily skin is always associated with acne and clogged pores. Adapalene or tretinoin is the best to reduce the problem besides of stimulate collagen and reducing sebum production. Only a pea-size amount is needed in every application.

My Opinion:
This is my current favorite sunscreen as it does not give my skin any breakout or purging and it really does what it claims. I really see improvement on my skin in terms of fading my pigmentation or my dark spot. Even after I reapply it every 2-3 hours, it does not feel heavy or sticky.  This sunscreen is always my go-to sunscreen as this is wudhu friendly (i don't need to use my makeup remover anymore to remove my sunscreen). However, it does give shiny look after I reapply my sunscreen quite sometimes. So my solution is to wash my face before I reapply.

Recommended:
Yes for all skin types

Repurchase:
Yes

Finding makeup can be a bit overwhelming because there are too much of makeup products on the market nowadays. My personal recommendation is always to go for drugstore makeup as it was easy to grab if I'm out of stock and budget-friendly.

However, drugstore makeup products also can be off as some products may make my makeup crack, easily get off and not pigmented, really hard to draw or put on my face, etc. So,  here are some of my favorite drugstore makeup which really doesn't give me problems at all.  I arrange according to which I apply first and I already linked it for you if you were interested to purchase too.

Do you know a workout really can affect your skin in a bad way if you don't have the right routine? (Also read: How Workout Effect Skin). This entry will give you the full guide on how to take care of your skin before and after the workout to prevent any breakout.

BEFORE WORKOUT

Light moisturizer
Please bear in mind that workouts involve very heavy sweat. A thick moisturizer will make your skin too oily and sticky which may cause bacteria development and acne. Choosing the right moisturizer such as a gel-type moisturizer which enough to give you the hydration that your skin needs. My recommended moisturizer is Hydro Boost Water Gel by Neutrogena.

Use sunscreen if you are outside
Workout outside is the best as you can enjoy the view and fresh air without feeling stuffy. However, UV light can kill all the good things in your skin. Be sure to apply and reapply your sunscreen. Even if you are working out in the evening you still need a sunscreen as the sun still gives your skin UV light. Choose a lightweight sunscreen such as powder for extra comfort.

AFTER WORKOUT

Immediately wash your face
No chatting or hanging out if you don't do this! Right after your cooling session be sure to wash your face. Your sweat contains trapped dirt, bacteria, and maybe some toxin which perfect combo that causes acne. Be sure immediately after the workout, clean your face either with plain water or a gentle cleanser.

Use a plain wipe if you can't wash your face
Always carry a baby wipe with you if there is no water available at your gym or your workout area. A baby wipe is the best option compared to makeup wipes or any other wet wipes as baby wipes are gentle to the skin and free of harsh chemicals. But be sure to immediately wash your face when you reach home.

Follow up with your skincare routine
Do not skip your skincare routine even if you are too tired after your workout session. A skincare routine is basic hygiene to prevent acne or breakout. A basic skincare routine consists of three main things which are cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen. Do not forget to use a spot treatment to treat existing acne. (Also read: My Favorite Skincare Routine)

EXTRA TIPS

Change your workout gear after every use
Using the same towel or cloth can be the main reason for your acne. Even if you did not sweat heavily during your workout you still need to change them because your cloth traps the unseen sweat and bacteria and can be transferred to your skin which leads to a breakout.

Drink a lot of water
Workout can remove a lot of water content in your body and cause dehydration. Dehydration can be the reason for dehydrated skin which can produce excess oil on your skin and lead to clogged pores. So be sure you drink a lot of water. 3L of water is the best for people who workout actively.
